Subject: Rachel (Rakhel) Hadass info wanted
From: Thomas Stern

Does anyone have biographical information for Rachel (Rakhel) Hadass,
emigrated from Greece to Israel, then a singer of Israeli and international repertoire ????

AND contact information if she is still around ????

She was active in the 1950's and 1960's - perhaps later.
Recorded a couple of albums for MONITOR, now available through
Smithsonian-Folkways, and some tracks in an ISRAEL MUSIC FOUNDATION
Lp from 1957.

Frank Hamilton mentioned her in a post on Mudcat related to performers
who appeared in Chicago.

Any additional information appreciated.
Thanks!
Best wishes, Thomas.

If you can locate that book in a library, there may be info there you can use.

I do not see that book available at any library sites - wonder if it
is one of those rip-off publications which copies information from
WIKI and other online sources ???

Thomas.

Looks like you nailed that in one.

Thomas, I am coming up with zero.

I don't know how Hebrew adaptations of names from other places work, but could she be a relation of Hadass Pal-Yarden, who has recorded a CD of Sephardic songs ("Yahudice") for the Turkish label Kalan Muzik?
