Subject: RE: EFDSS funding increased From: GUEST,holy roller Date: 01 Jul 14 - 07:23 AM This is NPO funding, which means National Portfolio Organisations. These are the organisations that are core funded by the Arts Council for periods of 3 years at a time, after which they must re apply. They used to be called Regularly Funded Organisations. EFDSS has been one for a few years. Their funding has been increased from around £300k per year to around £450k per year. Their increase over the next few years is partly in order to fund a national youth folk ensemble. So my question still stands - what about the ensembles that already exist? Will EFDSS be working with them? Also what does this mean for funding to other folk organisations around the country? Are they enjoying support from Arts Council, or is it putting all its eggs in the one (London based) basket? |
Subject: RE: EFDSS funding increased From: GUEST Date: 01 Jul 14 - 06:11 AM I have no inside knowledge of arts funding but the impression that I have is that the Arts Council now tend to fund specific projects rather than organisations. |
Subject: RE: EFDSS funding increased From: Mr Red Date: 01 Jul 14 - 05:31 AM NYFTE is a fantastic resource. Many young musicians and dancers come out of it with exceptional skills. Not sure if Arts council funding can inspire young people though (per se), they do it for the love of it. |
Subject: EFDSS funding increased From: GUEST,holy roller Date: 01 Jul 14 - 05:28 AM Arts Council NPO announcements this morning. More money for EFDSS, including funding for a national youth ensemble. Great news, but out of interest, where does this leave NYFTE, or Folkestra? |
