THE WHITE DOVE A song reminds me of That yesterday When she left in silence One sunset She went away with her sad song To another place She left as a companion My loneliness. A white dove sings to me At dawn Old melancholies, things Of the soul Arrive with the silence of The morning. And when I go out to see her, she flies To her house Where she goes that she Now doesn't want to listen to my voice Where she goes that my life Fades away If she is not next to me If she wanted to return I would go to wait for her Every day, every dawn To love her more. http://lyricstranslate.com/en/la-paloma-blanca-white-dove.html |

Subject: Lyr Add: La Paloma Blanca From: Joe Offer Date: 06 Jul 14 - 07:01 PM So, with the corrections, we have: LA PALOMA BLANCA Sung by Julio Iglesias Una canció me requerda Aquel ayer Cuando se marchó en silencio Un atardecer Se fue con su canto triste a Otro lugar Dejó como compañera Mi soledad Una paloma blanca me canta Al alba Viejas melancolias, cosas Del alma Llegan con el silencio de La mañana Y cuando salgo a verla, vuela A su casa Donde va que mi voz Ya no quiere escuchar Donde va que mi vida Se apaga Si junto a mi no esta Si quisiera volver Yo la iria a esperar Cada dia cada madrugada Para quereria más THE WHITE DOVE A song reminds me of That yesterday When she left in silence One sunset She went away with her sad song To another place She left as a companion My loneliness. Subject: RE: Lyr Add: La Paloma blanca From: Joe Offer Date: 07 Jul 14 - 03:58 AM More corrections that I received from Monique. I'm going to leave this open for more corrections because it's clear there's disagreement. Then I'll ask somebody to come up with a definitive version. But hey, this is fun. Besides, I added question marks and the accents on "dónde" because in a relative clause "where" is "donde" but when "where" is a question adverb or whatever you call them there's an accent as on all the question adverbs/pronouns in Spanish to mark the difference in nature: Who...? = ¿Quién...? What...? = ¿Qué...? When...? =¿Cuándo...? Where...? = ¿Dónde...? Where she goes that she / Now doesn't want to listen to my voice... I'd say it means "Where is she going [as] she doesn't want to listen to my voice any more? Where she goes that my life / Fades away / If she is not next to me... I'd say it means "Where is she going? My life fades away if she's not next to me. These two "que" are the "que" often used in Spanish to mean "because"/"as" /"since"... any word that can introduce some sort of explanatory clause; sometimes there's no translation, a comma is enough. There's the same kind of construction in Occitan and Francitan (mix of Fr. and Oc. in the same way Spanglish is a mix of Sp. and Eng.) The lining is weird but...too much would be too much! Monique |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: La Paloma blanca From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 07 Jul 14 - 01:34 PM I copied the Spanish lyrics from the site, admittedly with errors (a bad day!), but Monique has noted errors that were in the text I copied from the website. Donde was not supplied with question marks; Monique makes the correction. Accents on mí and iría were lacking in the text. The song seemingly was introduced by George Baker and his group, The G. B> Baker Selection; the lyrics posted online all are a mixture of English and Spanish. I have since found the lyrics with mostly(?) correct accents and versification at http://www.lyricsmania.com/la_paloma_lyrics_julio_iglesias.html Here are the first and last lines of the four verses- Verse 1- Una canció me recuerda.... Dejó como compañera. Verse 2- Una paloma blanca me canta.... Y cuando salgo a verla, vuela a su canta. Verse 3- ¿Donde va que mi voz..... Si junto a mi no está Verse 4- Si quisiera volver.... Para querería más. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: La Paloma blanca From: Monique Date: 07 Jul 14 - 02:06 PM @Q: Since you gave the address of the site you copied it from, it was clear that the errors and the weird lining weren't yours. The lyrics with the question marks can be found there. I'm more familiar with the original version. There's also some spoof lines that go "Si a tu ventana llega un perro chato, trátalo con cariño que es tu retrato." (If a pug-nosed dog comes to your window, treat him with affection/love for it's your portrait) and "Si a tu ventana llega una sombra oscura, pégale un garrotazo porque es un cura" (If a dark shadow comes to your window, hit it with a stick for it's a priest). I don't know if the last version is related to the Spanish Civil War atmosphere. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: La Paloma blanca From: Bainbo Date: 08 Jul 14 - 10:40 AM I think the Julio Iglesias Paloma Blanca, the words of which are given here, is a completely different song to the George Baker one. |

Add: WHITE DOVE (Paloma blanca) Translation: pomodorino, lyricstranslate.com Star of my life Wait for me, my love Barely you light yourself And already you say goodbye. Like a petal that travels through the air And leaves a caress on my skin. With ink of clear water Over a rock in the sun I drew you slowly Your eyes and my voice. Like droplets of mist falling to a lake And breaking the mirror of the blue sky. White dove, You passed so close to my window That you stirred up everything, With your wings, you disheveled my entire soul. I will never forget you, And I will always carry you with me, Your face over my face. When February comes back again, And the sun has set, I will search for you in the night, star of my love. With yo I will blow out your first candle And you'll cross the heavens. White dove, You passed so close to my window That you stirred up everything, With your wings you disheveled my soul. I will never forget you And I will always carry you with me, Your face over my face. Your face over my face Your face over my face Your face over my face. I have slightly revised the word order of the translation. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: La Paloma blanca From: Monique Date: 11 Jul 14 - 02:36 PM 1st verse, 4th line, 2nd word is "deja" without any accent. "Déjà" is French for "already". |
