Hi folks
Just wondering if anyone can help any further with a song called Im Getting Younger' - not sure who recorded it, though I would dare say it came out of America 1950's/60's.   also maybe if someone is able to help with the chords to the lyrics - or can direct me to where I can find this song.   many thanks

I'M GETTING YOUNGER
Well I'm just like a young spring chicken
I'm just beginning to start my pickin'
Age don't mean a thing to me
I'd still be going when I'm ninety-three

Hi guys, since I posted those lyrics, I recalled the chorus: It is duet song . . . there is another couple verses that I cannot recall - but this is the chorus.

I'm getting younger
Lets treat him kind
I'm getting younger
It's all in his mind
I can do anything that I use to do
Here's getting old he's just about through

The US Catalog of Copyright Entries lists a song called I'M GETTING YOUNGER EVERY DAY, with words by Geoffrey Clayton and music by Harry Hudson, published by Peter Maurice Music Co., Inc., copyright 1933.

There's also GRANDPA'S GETTIN' YOUNGER EV'RY DAY, lyrics of which have been posted in another thread (click link).

I don't think it's the song that GUEST,Jono2009 requested, though, because it doesn't contain the lyrics he quoted. It does mention Grandpa's being 93, however, but that could be a coincidence just for the convenience of the rhyme.

I'M GETTING YOUNGER

Well I'm just like a young spring chicken,
I'm just beginning to start my kicking;
Age don't mean a thing to me,
I'll still be going when I'm ninety-three.

                      CHORUS
I'm getting younger, (Let's treat him kind)
I'm getting younger, (It's all in his mind)
I can do anything that I use to do;
Here's getting old he's just about through.

Walking down the street on a windy day,
I met a little thing with a swing and a sway;
Along came a puff of wind, a blowing mighty stout,
What happened next would make your eyes pop out.

Subject: Lyr Add: MAMA'S GETTING YOUNGER; PAPA'S GETTING..
From: Jim Dixon
Date: 30 Jun 17 - 11:32 PM

Another song on the theme of getting younger—

MAMA'S GETTING YOUNGER; PAPA'S GETTING OLDER EACH DAY
Written by Richard [Duck?] Baker
As recorded by Duck Baker on "The King of Bongo Bong" (2011)

Well, Mama she said to Papa: "Honey, you're growing cold."
Papa said right back to Mama: "Well, baby, you're getting too old."
Well, now, Mama said: "Is that a fact? I'm 'on' open up your eyes."
Took her face to the beauty shop and, oh, boy, what a surprise!

Well, Mama's getting young; Papa's getting old.
Mama's getting hot but Papa's getting cold.
Mama's getting younger and Papa's getting older each day—day by day,

Well, Mama likes this; Papa likes that.
Mama's getting thin but Papa's getting fat.
Mama's getting younger and Papa's getting older each day.

If you see Mama with a head on her that looks so cute and sweet.
Papa goes around with a long red beard that looks like shredded wheat.

Well, Mama's complexion blooms like a rose.
Papa's does too, but it's going to his nose.
Mama's getting younger and Papa's getting older each day.

*

Well, Mama's getting young and Papa's getting old.
Mama's getting hot but Papa's getting cold.
Mama's getting younger and Papa's getting older each day—day by day,

Well, Mama's in the nightclub shakin' her hips
Papa shakes, too, but he's blue around the lips.

Mama's getting younger and Papa's getting older each day.

If you see Mama in a pink pajama, man, there's just no flaws.
Papa goes to bed with his long red flannels; he looks like Santa Claus.

Well, Mama's complexion blooms like a rose.
Papa's does too, but it's going to his nose.
Mama's getting younger and Papa's getting older each day.

Subject: Lyr Add: GETTING YOUNGER EVERY YEAR (Kander & Ebb)
From: Jim Dixon
Date: 01 Jul 17 - 08:20 AM

Another song on the theme of getting younger:

GETTING YOUNGER EVERY YEAR
Words by Fred Ebb, music by John Kander, from the musical "The Happy Time" (1968)
As recorded by John Kander & Fred Ebb on "John Kander: Hidden Treasures, 1950-2015" (2015)

Venez, mes enfants: today is my birthday.
A little respect to your bon-père is due....
I've had many birthdays; well, I have a system
That lets your bon-père stay un enfant too.

Come wish me bon fête, but let's make it clear:
I'm getting younger ev'ry year.
I find it a pleasure when birthdays appear.
I'm getting younger ev'ry year.
I made up my mind when I was fifty-seven
That the year after that I'd be forty-six,
So come and see me next year if you have a chance,
And maybe I'll be trying on my first long pants.
I don't beg your pardon if I get the urge
To act adolescent now and then,
Because the old rooster's crowing; at the rate he's going
Pretty soon he'll start all over again (all over again),
All over again (all over again).

Well, we just remembered it's our birthday too.
We're getting younger ev'ry year.
We find it a pleasure when birthdays are due.
We're getting younger ev'ry year.
We made up our minds when we were thirty-seven
That the year after that we'd be twenty-one,
And since we're counting backwards with each cake we slice,
Next year we may pass around that nice slice twice.
We don't beg your pardon if we get the urge
To act adolescent now and then,
Because the old girls are crowing; at the rate we're going,
Pretty soon we'll start all over again (all over again),
All over again (all over again),

Well, we just remembered it's our birthday too.
We're getting younger ev'ry year.
We find it a pleasure when birthdays are due.
We're getting younger ev'ry year.
We made up our minds when we were twenty-seven
That the year after that we'd be sweet sixteen,
So come and see us next year if you're passing by,
And you can wheel the carriage in—
And you can close the safety pin—
And you can help my mama keep my diaper dry.
I don't beg your pardon if I get the urge
To act adolescent now and then,
Because the old folks are crowing (the old folks are crowing).
At the rate we're going (at the rate we're going),
Pretty soon we'll start all over again (all over again),
All over again (all over again). [repeat ad lib]
