Subject: Tech: Chrome 'New Tab Page' problem From: wilbyhillbilly Date: 17 Jul 14 - 06:45 AM I think I have at last managed to get rid of the wisersearch malware I have had for months. I have noticed now however, that when I click the new tab box in the browser it comes up with this address in the tab box "chrome-extension://pmgkeimkiojpjcoiiipekfjaopchhjga/snt.html" and tells me "this web page is not found". Anyone know how I can restore the normal chrome search page that used to appear? In simple terms please :-) John |

That browser is getting quite a bad reputation, as it gets VERY demanding about what you see and what IT sees. I gave it up after many problems... Perhaps someone else knows the simple answer YOU wish. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Chrome 'New Tab Page' problem From: wilbyhillbilly Date: 17 Jul 14 - 03:22 PM Great stuff, guest. I went to the link and one of the things it said was to check the extensions, so I did that first and hey presto, there was a strange extension called simple tab, deleted that, now everything is back to normal. Thanks for your tip, without that I don't know how long it would have been before I checked the extensions, but I,ll certainly check on a regular basis in future. Thanks. Bill, I agree, it is starting to get a bit demanding now but not really sure of a suitable alternative, or if truth is told, I'm too lazy to risk changing it at the moment. John |
