Peter, Paul and Mary were also on Jack Benny's program:It was fun to watch. Gee, Mary was 26 years old at the time.

As a young teenager, the thought of Dorothy Kilgallen putting on that sequined mask, gave me troubling thoughts...

Dorothy Kilgallen's last appearance on What's My Line? on November 7, 1965. Within five hours of the live program's end, she was dead - alcohol and barbiturates.

The panel - who were not teenagers - had to identify PP&M without seeing them and without hearing them sing!

The panel had confirmed they were a team - but didn't know how many there were in the team, that one was female, or that they were singers.

PP&M weren't even in New York for a concert. The panel member who identified them from so little information was obviously well aware of them.

Most of the folks on the panel were more attuned to Broadway than folk music. But it's obvious that Woody knew them. I'm guessing that he knew them from the Village when he was doing standup comedy.

Ya never know.

I am the guest/guest above.

Sorry I appear to have strayed on to a thread that is nothing to do with me as it concerns an American programme.

Still amazed there was a problem with PP&M!

Woody Allen was a mystery guest , not a panelist

Interesting that this distinguished panel would have trouble identifying the occupation of Seiji Ozawa. This was 1963. Ozawa didn't start performing extensively with U.S. orchestras until 1964, but he soon became very well known in the United States.

I loved seeing Woody Allen as a panelist. I'm sure they played some of the same clubs at some point.

I find it hard to believe that anyone, even old fuddie duddies long since dead, would have any problem indentifying them.

Having mostly for most of my adult life been turned off rather than on by television, I am at a loss as to the format of this "show".

Where they there to encourage people to watch an otherwise uninspiring programme?
