ITMA's latest batch of interactive scores must rate as one of the most unusual collections of Irish music: Padraic Ganly's collection of jigs, reels, hornpipes, airs, etc., composed by himself in traditional idiom, which he had printed on 1 July 1918 by Francisco de Paula at 1053 Av. de Mayo, Buenos Aires. Check out the scores online & read a little of this evolving Argentinian musical mystery …

I am a distant relation of Padraic. , my Grandmother was Ganly. I have a photo of him and his wife and daughter if anyone is interested.    Geraldine McLynn, Tang.

You can travel along Av. de Mayo, Buenos Aires on Google Map in street view, I last walked along it in April 2011!

Geraldine, The Archive would be delighted to see the photograph of Padraic Ganly and his family. We really have very little information about him. Could I ask you to contact our Images Officer, Treasa Harkin, directly? Her email address is treasa.harkin@itma.ie.
