Dear Ms. WW,

I am writing this post so that everyone will know what a wonderful person you are. Things had been sort of bland for me lately after Catspaw and Big Mick got together in Cincinnati a few weeks ago. And what was even worse was that although I got to meet Mick (and he really blows), neither he nor Catspaw had a camera so I won't even get a new picture for my little photo album. I like to look at my album a lot and I just added the pictures of El Swanno blowing up my backside. I liked El Swanno and Mick. They were both nice to me and said I was really something. Up until the other day, my album was my favorite thing. But thanks to you, I now have something new of my very own. Even Cletus, Paw, Buford, and the Reg boys have nothing to compare with it. Miss WW made one for my little sis too and Catspaw says he will forward it soon.

So all of my Mudcat friends know, Miss WW made me a wonderful bubble-wrap cape of my very own. It has a beautiful silver ribbon to tie around my neck, 3 big silver stars at the hem, and best of all, a big glittering "C" on the back for all to see. I really love it and I think Catspaw was cheered up by it too. He said, "Damn, its great to have friends who are as big an asshole as I am." I don't know what he meant, although I have much experience regarding assholes. He sure was happy and laughed and laughed. Karen laughed too so I knew he must have meant something good.

Now I wear my cape and play pretend. Sometimes I'm a swashbuckling pirate and sometimes I'm a super hero. Sometimes I just wear it and think how lucky I am to be a part of Mudcat.....and Miss WW, THAT is the best part.

Thank You Very Much,

Cleigh O'Possum

Gawd, where is it all gonna end? How about a Cleigh O'Possum comic book (and what about MuhMuhMuhMario's clay possum? What's her name? I know it's not Maria Supial), maybe little bags of possum poop on sale in souvenir shops, a gigantic billboard in front of Barbara's house identifying it as the birthplace of Cleigh? When do we start hearing about Cleigh's miracles (note: making Swanno sick doesn't count as a miracle)? I want the first extra large/tall Cleigh O'Possum t-shirt--Mick can have the first C. O'P. thong (with special potato pouch). Alison can have the first t-shirt with a picture of Mick in his C. O'P. thong...

Dear Mr. Seed,

Miss WW was nice enough to make a cape for my little sis too. It has pretty little flowers on it. Catspaw's going to send it on to her real soon.

I'm just a little clay possum, but I know a good idea too. You have a lot of very nice ideas, but I want you to know that I didn't make Mr. El Swanno ill. I would never do anything like that to another Mudcatter.

But thank you very much for the other ideas. I hope one day we can meet and I can say to you, face to face...Blow me Seed.

Cleigh O'Possum

Dear Cleigh,

WW told me about your capes, so it is nice to ehar you are having fun with them.

She needs some extra love right now, too, 'cause her very special, most favourite dog in the whole wide world isn't doing too good. So maybe you could put on your cape and turn some of those miracle powers on to help WW and her dearest puppy, 'cause they sure had a tough night last night.

Thanks, darlin', I'll bet you look really cute.

Dear Cleigh,

I'm so glad you got the cape, and I hope you'll be able to get your little sister's to her very soon. I considered the color scheme very carefully and tried to do something that would bring out the sparkle in your eyes and contrast nicely with your skin, er, hide tone.

Yes, my poor old dobergirl is having a bad time of it right now and she's been one of my best friends for 13 years, so if you could blow a few magic Possum Puffs this direction, I'd much appreciate it.

Seed -- those are excellent ideas, every one. I think the Mudcat Boutique is about to launch...

Yes, but you have to pick your bum very carefully.

Mario -- what's Dido's full name? I think she'll love her little flowers.

Thanks all, Ms. Fresa dog seems to be much better today, but I'm keeping her fairly sedated to prevent her gnawing out her stitches again. And I have her all trussed up in a two-tee shirt extravaganza to keep her from being able to reach said stitches. She keeps looking up at me as if to ask, "Are you just doing this to humiliate me? What have I ever done to you?" But, the wound finally seems to be drying up and starting to heal, so there's hope. (It is cancer, though, so whatever reprieve we have is likely only temporary, sad to say...)

Thanks again for your kind thoughts.

WW

Ms. Dee-Dee (Shepard) and Mr. Bear (Chow/Shepard) both send their best wishes to Ms. Fresa Dog and hope she feels better. Ms. Dee-Dee (13 years old) herself recently underwent surgery to remove a severely infected ovary. She also has cancer but it seems to be in remision for the moment. Both Dee-Dee and Bear would love to meet Cleigh. The way they love to chase squirrels, (neither has ever caught one) they would not know how to act when Cleigh just stood there and laughed at them!

Hang in there WW, and like we do with Dee-dee, just enjoy each day one at a time!

Benkei and Non-ta are eager to sign up for the canine healing circle as well (they're having healing dreams at the moment). WW, have you ever tried a lampshade? Non-ta had a dermatitis he wouldn't stop licking and wore one for a week--he got quite used to it, even if he continued to bump into things.

There are some wonderful doggy collars available from the vet,I'm surprised they didn't give you one. Makes the dog look like a canine icecream cone, or vaguely Elizabethan, but they do stop them getting at the stitches. If she would accept them, my two cats send sniffs and snuffs of support. At least, that is my interpretation of one of them, who is at this moment lying across my wrists as I type.....

Thanks, all. Yes, she definitely accepts cat good wishes. In fact, I, too, have a cat lying across my lap at this very moment, Fresa's pet cat Sable. Why must cats sit on laps or keyboards every single time one sits in front of the computer?

I did get one of those Elizabethan collars from the vet and even tried saying 'Hail, Fresa Regina' when I put it on her. But it seemed to make her so nervous, I was afraid it was doing more harm than good. I know now I should have stuck with it and just given her doggie downers for a few days (the regime we're on now) while the incision healed up. My vet said the tissue that's cancerous has a lot harder time healing, as well, so that's an additional complication.

I'm glad to hear that these things can go into remission. She has always been healthy, is in great shape and I am feeling more hopeful now that she might come out of this and be with me for at least some time longer. What a passion we have for these animals -- knowing at the outset that our life cycles are so mismatched, yet loving them with all our hearts anyway. Good for us. I simply cannot imagine life without my animal family members.

And, Cleigh, that would include you if you were in proximity.

I love the "animal healing circle" idea. A great image in my heart at any rate....

Thanks again for your good thoughts. Keep beaming them this way.

Love, ww
