Hi -- Yes, there is English stuff in the Valley. You just missed a David Jones house concert in Van Nuys -- absolutely brilliant. There are some pretty good individual performers, too. Kim Friedman is one to watch for; she does both traditional and music-hall songs at occasional "Valley Folk" concerts put on by Z. Clark Branson projects. I you don't mind going "over the hill," the Santa Monica Traditional Folk Music Club meets the first Saturday each month, and there are quite a few members there who like English and other British Isles music (one runs a monthly Irish/Scottish song workshop). Check out the Club's web page at: http://www.members.aol.com/aprilstory/folk/html

I get the feeling after having moved to the "Valley" area that there is a large English contingency in the region...perhaps moreso in Santa Monica????

Anyone from this area know of any venues featuring English Traditional Music??? I'd be interested!

Mary Kate
