Subject: RE: Rosalie Sorrels needs our support 2014 From: GUEST,sciencegeek Date: 18 Aug 14 - 02:43 PM I lost my mom to vascular dementia... her mind/personality in 2012 and her body in 2013... she was 88. It's a series of mini strokes that act like a cancer of the mind/brain... everything is eaten away until there's not enough left to keep the body going. The worst was when she was briefly aware that something was terribly wrong. It really sucks for all involved. Since she tested negative for any genes associated with the disorder, keeping blood sugar and pressure under control will probably help the rest of the family stave this off. |

Subject: RE: Rosalie Sorrels needs our support 2014 From: Desert Dancer Date: 14 Aug 14 - 10:11 PM There was a also thread in 2012 when her cabin flooded. Here are some links Stilly River Sage posted there for background on Rosalie: Subject: RE: Help needed for Rosalie Sorrels ~ Becky in Long Beach |

Subject: RE: Rosalie Sorrels needs our support 2014 From: Thomas Stern Date: 13 Aug 14 - 10:23 AM I posted about these CDs a few years ago - http://mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=131209 Anyone who loves Rosalie's music should grab them as fast as you can! I repeat my suggestion that the following two albums deserve to be made available: Festival Records-Columbia Research Group SONGS OF THE MORMON PIONEERS, and Prestige ROSALIE's SONGBAG. Best wishes, Thomas. |
Subject: RE: Rosalie Sorrels needs our support 2014 From: GUEST,matt milton Date: 13 Aug 14 - 09:51 AM Hi there If you could find the time to set up a Bandcamp page for those two albums, then please do. The nice thing about Bandcamp is that you can pay a fixed minimym amount, or voluntarily pay whatever you like above that. you can buy either a download or a CD. I don't buy CDs any more, I'm download-only these days, but I'd gladly donate some money. |
Subject: RE: Rosalie Sorrels needs our support 2014 From: GUEST,sciencegeek Date: 13 Aug 14 - 09:13 AM I would think that that Dick & Sue could offer the best advice, though Kickstarter might be a good way to raise cash, especially for a known artist. |
Subject: Rosalie Sorrels needs our support 2014 From: Desert Dancer Date: 12 Aug 14 - 11:19 PM This was posted on Rosalie Sorrells' Facebook page: This is Kevin Sorrels I am managing my mothers facebook page and her website www.wayoutinidaho.net. I have been working on this project to help her earn an income off the work she has done as a singer songwriter. I take care of her now because she is now unable to do a lot of things she was able to do back in her prime. The thing is now, she is living on Social security. She is living in the cabin that her dad built up in the mountains here in Idaho. I go take care of her about 5 days a week. the other two days I found a lady that works for the senior center that brings her dinner and checks on her for me. I haven't let everyone know that she is not doing very well these days. She has Dementia and is losing her memory. I don't know how much longer she will be able to live at the cabin due to her problems and that is where she wants to be. I know everyone has done all kinds of benefits to help mom with some of her other problems that life has thrown her way but I feel it would be better if she could sell the music she worked her life to create. I put together a two CD package with a signed photo that I am selling on her website. These Two CD's have been off the market since 1972 and 1973 they are; Travelin' Lady "the original one" and What ever happened to the girl that was. I will be working on other projects also but I'm kinda using this project to do a little start up money raising process. It's not going as well as I planed so I am asking all of you, friends and fans of Rosalie to put the word out. I have very little inventory of all the other CD's so this is my only way to kick start the website. Thank all of you and please know I will do my very best to keep all of you informed of what Rosalie is up to and how she is doing. I will be posting anything new I can work up but I really don't like to have mom be under to much pressure to do anything new. I want to protect her from anyone that wants her to perform. She just can't do it anymore. Thanks again sincerely, Kevin Sorrels. P.S. That photo is from that time, 1972 and 1973 back when she was more honky-tonk although she is a real troubadour. Also she stood up against the big record companies and when independent 100% thats why these two albums were stored away and never to be sold! so enjoy Rosalie's past it was a hard road but she was the ORIGINAL Travelin' Lady. --- ~ Becky in Long Beach |
