Subject: Dave Rankin From: GUEST,Brian Shepherd (guest) Date: 14 Aug 14 - 05:47 AM The sleeve note writer of the 1962 album "Tom Rush At The Unicorn" referred to Dave Rankin, the writer of the song Poor Man, as "The Woodie Guthrie Of The South"(their spelling, not mine). That's a big claim and yet only this one song by Rankin can I find. Surely there must be more? Is there anyone on here who can add anything to our knowledge of this man? |

Subject: RE: Info req: Dave Rankin From: Dennis the Elder Date: 15 Aug 14 - 03:41 AM There was a David Rankin in the Rankin Family in Canada, however this certainly is not in the South and also to young. A David Rankin also has a CD "Threads in the Fabric" available on cdbaby Music Store, this is obviously the wrong Dave Rankin as he was born in Southern Ohio in 1952 a little young to write a song recorded in 1962. I will continue my research |
