The Munnelly family, together with the Old Kilfarboy Society, is delighted to announce the launch of a comprehensive, edited collection of essays and lectures by Tom Munnelly. Largely previously unpublished, the range of articles gathered within the pages of this volume are a testament to the life's work of Tom, a titan of folksong collection in twentieth century Ireland. This book is a treasure trove of insight and interpretation for singers and non-singers alike and makes a valuable contribution to the scholarship of English language song in Ireland in particular.

sorely missed - I saw Nicholas Carolan at fleadh cheoil na hÉireann recently and was thinking there probably aren't too many other people around now with such a comprehensive knowledge of Irish folk music now that Tom Munnelly and Frank Harte are passed away

The book is currently at the printers and will be launched by Professor Ian Russell in the Spanish Point Golf Club, Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare at 2.00pm on Saturday 30th August. We'd love to see anyone who can make it there!

I'll bump up this thread again, with the book being launched and all that.

The launch was lovely, with some great singing (I am sure it will continue on fora while yet) and the book is great too. A fitting tribute to the man.

I'll leave it up to Jerry to post purchase details etc.
