Did Cyril Tawney do a version of this as well?

"Too soon to be out of my bed
Too soon to be back at this bus-queue caper
Or fumblin' for change for my picture paper
On a Monday morning"

Not the same song, methinks. I have Andy M's book, and no verse like that in it.

It's in key of A, as follows:

Verse 1
(D) Monday morning, 6 AM,
The (A) clock rings off the wall,
Now I'm (F#m) standing tae at-(C#m)- tention
In my (Bm7) bare feet in the (E) hall,
Wi (A) one leg doon my (F#m) trousers,
I can (D) find nae socks at (A) all,
But I'm a (D) coiled spring of (A) indus-(F#m)-try
Re-(E)-sponding to your (A) call.

Chorus
(A) Monday morning,
Why do you (D) haunt me,
With your (A) bells and factory (F#m) whistles all a-(Bm7)-round (E)
Monday (F#m) morning,
(C#m) Why do you (Bm7) haunt me (D)
And I so tired I could (E) sleep here on the (A ) ground (D) (A )

I'll leave you to work out the rest of the verses, and/or transpose!

Transcribed from here and based on the helpful group Blackwater, who had almost identical lyrics on their Bandcamp site (give their recording a listen while you're there, it's a nice sounding recording!)

MONDAY MORNING
(written by Andy M. Stewart)

Monday morning, 6 AM; the clock rings off the wall
Here I'm standin' tae attention in ma bare feet in the hall
Wi' un leg doon ma trousers, I can find nae socks at all
But I'm a coiled spring o' industry respondin' tae your call

CHORUS
Monday morning, why do you haunt me
Wi' your bells and factory whistles all around
Monday morning, why do you taunt me
And I so tired I could sleep here on the ground

"Gi' me something different, please," I ask them at The Buroo
On the board o' some big company where I've no a thing tae do
Oh, let me try insider trading I’d be equal tae the task
For I'm slowly being murdered by the piece bag and the flask

CHORUS

The bloke behind the counter says "you must be off your head"
And he swore he'd phone the police if I did nae leave with speed
It was then I read the notice pinned behind him on the wall
that said "make 'em thank their lucky stars they've any job at all"

CHORUS

Just come up here to Scotland, you can pay us what you like
We're meek sir, very simple, and we're no' allowed to strike
And we've all got wee cloth bonnets and we all say "help me Bob"
And we’ll all bend down and kiss your doup and thank ye for the job

CHORUS (x2)

And I so tired I could sleep here on the ground

Thank you! Very glad to have this!

Alison, Blackwater's fiddler, and her husband Tom, are old and dear friends, and I knew the band did this but never thought about checking with her for the words.
