They are threatening him with imprisonment in Colchester Military Corrective Establishment & loss of pay. He was bored, so certainly departed from that "good order & military discipline" as it used to be specified in Section 40 of the Army Act back in my longsince days of service. And there was certainly an element of arguably inappropriate playing to the crowd. He's a naughty man, in clearly departing from the sorts of undertakings, specific & implied, entered into when he signed on. So probably deserves some punishment, would you say?

But still -- I don't know, Quite ambivalent as to whether he should be flogged 100 lashes at the triangle [or, in these effete days (dashit!), given a month 'over the wall'] ...

... or signed up by a good agent.

Or both, maybe...?

Have put this under folklore and above the line, coz it just seems to me to belong there -- something about it just smells 'folkie' to me...
