Any Jake Thackray fans who might be in or around the Wirrall this weekend should hurry on down to the Queen's Royal Hotel in New Brighton where, on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th October, we will be holding a Jakefest in celebration of our favourite wordsmith. It's also the launch of the new DVD, 'Jake Thackray and Songs' which collects together all of Jake's performances (more than two hours worth) from the 1981 BBC show of the same name along with guest spots from Ralph McTell, Alex Glasgow and Pete Scott.

More details on the New Brighton Jakefest Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/newbrightonjakefest

It should be a good do so come along, if you're able, and join in the fun.

Yes indeed! John will be there on Saturday, giving a talk during the day and winding up the evening concert with a few songs (after a few 'even-faker Thackrays').

I hope the event is a stonking success. Jake has never got the recognition he deserved. A wonderful wordsmith and an innovative and creative guitarist. Bloody brilliant!
