Another typical Patrick Sky song: John-Hurt-style blues picking pattern with Pat's tongue-in-cheek lyrics... the song is about Dave Bromberg, I believe. It's on "Two Steps Forward, One Step Back". Thanks for the help

This is from a Patrick Sky album I don't have... It's in my shopping cart now.

It's Pat's version of MAKE ME DOWN A PALLET ON YOUR FLOOR.

Yes, its chords progression resembles that of the John Hurt song, but I think it's a completely different song!

LUCKY ME
(Patrick Sky)

In the book was a line that said, "Never offend a poet lest he write a scoffing song about you, and verily it will be sung." I said, "Bromberg, you've had it."

Well, hello, all you people everywhere.
Yes, hello, all you people everywhere.
Well some of you are happy, some of you are sad.
Gonna tell you about the good times that I had.

Well, lucky me, I never had a friend.
Yes, lucky me, I never had a friend.
Well a friend is all you need, if on one you depend,
Well a friend in need is the only kinds [?sic] I'll find.

Well, this morning I had womens [?sic] on my mind.
Yes, this morning I had womens on my mind.
Well, yesterday was money, tomorrow will be wine.
Essential things is [?sic] always on my mind.

Now some gangs beat you with a rubber hose.
Yeah, some gangs beat you with a rubber hose.
I said, some gangs will beat you, with a rubber hose.
But our gang beat you with Dave Bromberg's nose.

So you see me and I seem to satisfy.
Hey, you see me and I seem to satisfy.
Well I never had a place to go, never had a place to hide.
I'm too busy livin' everyone else's life.

Wonderful guitar licks in this song, but - wondering what happened?

Jason
