And looking at a wider range of people affected:

https://blogs.loc.gov/folklife/2015/06/songs-and-music-of-refugees-of-the-first-world-war/

The largest group of refugees in the UK were probably the Belgians (about 250,000 of them). What musical record of their time in exile is there?

Here's an associated programme on at the moment :

Thankful Villages
BBC Radio4

A Thankful or ‘Blessed’ village is a place where every soldier returned alive from World War One. Songwriter Darren Hayman heard about ‘Thankful Villages’ and knew that he had his next album title. He then embarked on a three year odyssey to visit all 54 of them..

Hayman writes a song for every village based on local characters, hidden stories and chance meetings.

There is a bit more about the project on his website

What did people think of the live concert? I thought it was excellent. I was a little worried that the orchestration wouldn't work but Greg Lawson did a great job as he did with the Martyn Bennett orchestrations he did

Friday 2 November 2018 20:00 BBC RADIO 2

Friday Night is Music Night; War Horse: The Story In Concert

War Horse: The Story In Concert features the music of Adrian Sutton and was developed from the National Theatre's production of War Horse.

Since its opening in 2007 this has spent more than 8 years in London's West End and has now played to more than 7 million people all over the world, as well as being adapted for the big screen by Stephen Spielberg.

This latest version of War Horse sets the book alongside the dramatic sounds and colours created by the orchestra and choir and as they and the narrators bring Michael Morpurgo's story to life in a completely new way.

Ken Bruce presents a special concert version of Michael Morpurgo's story of Joey, the young farm horse who travels from the peace of the Devon countryside to the battlefields of the Western Front.

This performance was recorded earlier this year at Coventry Cathedral as part of the BBC's Biggest Weekend and features the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by David Charles Abell, Hertfordshire Chorus, baritone soloist Mark Stone and is narrated by Simon Callow and Juliet Stevenson.

The main rule is to get a disposable email address, or any email address, from an organisation you trust not to spy on the emails you intend to receive. But it's a lot of trouble to go to. You could use any email address that you tolerate being spammed - don't you already have one? I have a a gmail address I use for occasional online purchases which I suspect might get spammed and which I'm prepared to abandon. And I've used it for years - gmail catches most if the junk. And if you post it here as 'something AT something.com' it's not very likely to be harvested for spam anyway.

I wonder why Guest specifies this method rather than a PM or posting a link? (Mods: I suggest splitting this email stuff into a tech thread.)

Happily the BBC’s war nostalgia isn’t available in this part of Ireland . Piqued that our forefathers didn’t do their bit during the scrap presumably , stabbed old Blighty in the back in 1916 and all that .

The reason for the title is that it is part of a series of Radio Ballads that have taken the format used by Ewan MacColl and created new programmes on a range of themes including this annual programme about WW1

You may have missed the discussion earlier in the thread.

The title of this episode is 'The Ballad of the Great War 1917'. The whole series is called 'The Ballads of the Great War'.

"Accounts of life and death on the Western Front in words and music, featuring eye-witness accounts from veterans and specially commissioned songs by British folk songwriters"

Am I missing something here?

Ballads of the Great War surely means, or implies, ballads of, or from that time.

"Ballad of the Great War 1917; broadcast 11 November 2017

Original music by John Tams, Julie Matthews, Jez Lowe, Jim Boyes, Sean Cooney, Karine Polwart and Ray Hearne intertwined with tales of the war.

Other contributors; Bob Fox, Sam Kelly, Olivia Chaney, Kris Drever, Barry Coope, John McCusker.

Now as NONE of the above were "of" that time then surely they are only capable of writing modernist songs about the First World War.

That's the one I have: IRR030 -1997. Also features Vera Coomans. Many of the songs are accompanied by 'the Golden Serenaders' - which recreates the inter-war music by the band of that name in which one of his Grandfathers toured Europe. Until they had to stop - "what with Noni being Jewish".

However, this BBC One HD Live webstream lurking in the shadows can be captured free of iplayer restrictions using ffmpeg!

He has released two double CDs of the suite!

The first was the by the original cast of the Paschendaele Peace Concert, including Roy Bailey. The more recent is IRR099: GENTLE MEN, A SOLO PERFORMANCE Released 6th November 2015.

Gentle Men tells the stories of Robb Johnson?s grandfathers, Ernest Johnson and Harry Jenner. The songs present the effect of history on two of its statistics, two gentle men, who survived the First World War, but were forever in its shadow.

My post 16 Nov 16 - 10:59 AM listed episodes in the series (PID b04n2d2s) whether available or not. get_iplayer doesn't seem to do that any more (I have 3.05):

get_iplayer --preset radio   --pid=b04n2d2s
...
No episode PIDs found for parent PID: b04n2d2s
Presumably one will appear on Saturday.

If there are series like this one which might be rebroadcast one day I suppose you could put their series PIDs in a file and run a CRON job every month to see if any had been.

Yup - just the one new show to be aired on Saturday. All the rest are not available on iPlayer anymore, and likely will never be repeated.
