Subject: song about Irish Water on facebook From: mayomick Date: 23 Nov 14 - 07:04 AM For anyone on facebook. Ireland - of all places- is trying to charge householders for water . The country is up in arms over it .This man sings a song of protest . https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=840402725981540&fref=nf |
Subject: RE: song about Irish Water on facebook From: michaelr Date: 23 Nov 14 - 12:36 PM Water delivery to homes requires a system of treatment plants, pipes, pumps etc, which require investment and maintenance. Why would users think it unreasonable to have a fee associated with this service? |
Subject: RE: song about Irish Water on facebook From: mayomick Date: 23 Nov 14 - 01:54 PM It's the first instance of a newly-composed song in the Irish tradition I've heard for ages , so I thought I'd share it. Thanks for the imput michael -the singer is from Donegal , I believe . (Users are protesting because they feel they already pay for water delivery through taxes . There's a thread about that below the line somewhere, I think.) |

Subject: RE: song about Irish Water on facebook From: Rumncoke Date: 23 Nov 14 - 05:25 PM My husbands firm was owed money by a firm in the Irish republic for years after the work was done. Then they wanted to tender for another order - and who do they come back to in order to get the next batch of oh so useful boxes? How great was the gnashing of teeth at having to pay the money owed, and it finally arrived in the bank this last month, just in time to keep them in business. The Irish firm won't get any work done before paying for it this time, that's for sure. Ireland seems to have been getting easy money for a while and they've got used to it, but now it's all got to be paid for - and they don't like it one bit. |

Around here in Dublin there's no shortage of retired trades union bureaucrats trying to sound like Christy Moore lol. What did you think of this one- the singer's from Donegal, would you say? |
