Subject: RE: BS: Australian Cricketer Dies From Injuries From: GUEST,MikeL2 Date: 01 Dec 14 - 02:44 PM HI I went to Old Trafford on Saturday to watch Man United v Hull City. As we approached the ground there was a group of people each with a cricket bat with a black bow tied round the handle. Each had RIP PHIL HUGHES on it. I recognised one or two of them as local cricketers and some rugby players too. There is widespread sympathy for Phil - spread across many sports. In similar vein on Saturday a hockey player Sam Owen was struck on the head by a hockey ball and had to have brain surgery. https://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?fr=mcafee&type=B111GB0D20140721&p=hockey+player+struck+on+head Indications are that he is recovering well. .........and the ex F1 driver Australian Mark Webber was involved in a bad crash over the weekend. Thankfully Mark was not seriously injured but is suffering from concussion and heavy bruising. Dangerous stuff this sporting life !!! Makes me realise how lucky I was. Cheers MikeL2 |

Subject: RE: BS: Australian Cricketer Dies From Injuries From: MGM·Lion Date: 03 Dec 14 - 09:02 AM An obituary in this morning's The Times of Hillel Oscar, formerly Israel's cricket captain, who had been born in Bombay and emigrated with a love of the game, states that he "was killed in a freak accident when a ball struck him as he umpired a match". Sad that there should be two cricket fatalities within so short a time. ≈M≈ |
