Subject: Lyr Add: TELEPHONE BLUES (George Harmonica Smith) From: Jim Dixon Date: 03 Dec 14 - 07:06 PM Hmm. The video says in one place this is "George Harmonica Smith" but in another place it says "Little George Smith." Wikipedia says he was born Allen George Smith (1924-1983). The bio at AllMusic.com says he used both names, and that TELEPHONE BLUES was recorded under the name Little George Smith. Here's how I hear it: TELEPHONE BLUES As recorded by Little George Smith a.k.a. George "Harmonica" Smith Well, it's all day long – I been standin' by my telephone. Well, it's all day long – I been standin' by my telephone. Well, I decided I'd call my baby, and some other man he answered the phone. I said: "Please, please tell me what's goin' on wrong. Well, please, baby, tell me what's goin' on wrong." "Well, you mistreated me, daddy; I've got a new man livin' in your home." Well, I said: "Bye, baby; look like this is the end. Well, bye, baby," I said, "Look like this is the end. Well, I've got to quit you, baby, because you've gotten too many men." Lots of other people recorded various songs called TELEPHONE BLUES; I haven't traced how many songs there are, or what their origin is. |
