I've been following Mrs Grumpy's blog for some time - I like her style and she's sometimes very funny. She and her husband, who she calls "Mr Toad", have apparently been on holiday in Cremona, Northern Italy, and visited a violin-making school.

She was surprised (and it surprises me) to find that the violin-makers work in a dark room with an anglepoise which doesn't shine on to the work but is positioned at the side of the work.
