That sounds like fun. Probably not this year but maybe next WHEN I MIGHT RETIRE...

I just found out I am related to Skiffs of Marthas Vinyard..anyone know anything about them maritime-wise. I think they were shipbuilders. That would be a good topic I think.

How about getting some (more) people from Atlantic Canada...

I am always interested in the famine ships from New Brunswick..have they done that topic? Followed by the famous Jennie Johnston which was a very good famine ship. Her replica is in Dublin now.

Of course the terrible slave trade ships and traders(ummm...some of my other ancestors might have been involved to our shame).

I sent a note to Heather Sparling earlier, and while she has other commitments, she did forward it on to others who may be able to come up with something. Be fun if we do see more variety. :)

Wonder when Mystic is going to announce who will be speaking at the Symposium.

I just checked the website and there is no date for an announcement.

Good news! English Literature Professor Emeritus Marcia McGowan will be presenting a paper at a Symposium during the Mystic Sea Music Festival describing the impact Cicely Fox Smith's nautical poems have had on the sea music community; over 100 of her poems have now been adapted for singing and recorded, some with multiple settings. I will be assisting her by leading "Mobile Bay," Cicely's tribute to the traditional sea shanty "Roll the Cotton Down." The Festival takes place the 2nd weekend of June, with Marcia's paper being presenting Friday afternoon.

For sale will be the new Second Edition of The Complete Poetry of Cicely Fox Smith, with over 100 additional poems, for a total of about 750 poems.
