Subject: RE: Lakes of Ponchartrain on banjo From: pattyClink Date: 19 Dec 14 - 02:25 PM Always nice to hear a good rendition of this song, so 'refresh'! Having taken The Road to Jackson Town a few times, I can testify there is actually a geographic entity called The Lakes of Pontchartrain. If you look at the map the road passes between Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas, which latter looks like a stranded arm of the larger lake. Subject: RE: lake of ponchertrain on banjo From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 18 Dec 14 - 04:51 PM The name of the tune is "Lakes" (plural) "of Pontchartrain", regardless of the counted number of lake or lakes, or what the geographical name's language might be. Dave Oesterreich |
