Subject: Tech: Searching in Windows 8 From: Weasel Date: 07 Mar 15 - 05:55 PM Is there any way to make the search function on Windows 8 search everywhere. I've followed the instruction to no avail. It doesn't find any .mus (finale) files and even searching for files that I know are there yields no results. Looking for files I'm not sure are there seems impossible (which is the whole point of having a search function!) Any help appreciated. Cheers, Weasel |

Subject: RE: Tech: Searching in Windows 8 From: Mr Red Date: 08 Mar 15 - 06:31 PM Oh but it is. If you ask a question and the answer comes back NO, you would expect the answer to be NO. Except in NZ where there is a trendency for the correct answer "I don't Know" to be translated into Kiwi Strine as NO. Trust me - it was an enduring characteristic until I learned to not ask questions and find better souces of information than the Pakeha. Moari were actually better at it! If it tells you NO and you know it is there lurking it is a lie. Even Win7 is a diminution on previous search features, You have to look for something before you can look closer (aka Advanced Search). With my SSD HDD/Quad Core it still takes a long time just to be given scant results. I have experienced Win8, challenge is a very polite way of putting it. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Searching in Windows 8 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 08 Mar 15 - 07:45 PM Are you using the Windows 8 search feature or going into the Windows 7 desktop look to do your search? Toggle back and forth between these two views by depressing the Windows key on your keyboard. The older desktop view may make it easier to identify where in the computer you want to search for the files. SRS |
