I'm sure I posted about this a few months ago but I'm blowed if I can find the post.

Lewes Saturday Folk Club Workshop No 203
Benny Graham , Barrie & Ingrid Temple :
NORTH-EAST SONGS WORKSHOP
Places £30
Saturday 28 March 2015
10.45 a.m.- 4.45 p.m.
Royal Oak, Station Street, Lewes BN7 2DA UK
Benny (http://www.bennygraham.com/start.htm) is a magnificent singer & melodeon player with a huge knowledge of Newcastle's vigorous singing tradition & theatrical connections. Barrie & Ingrid (http://barrieandingrid.co.uk/) are fine harmony singers. Barrie writes songs in traditional style, but in a recognisable voice of his own. The workshop will cover a brief history of North-East songs & songwriters, showing how the songs reflected the North-East people & their way of life. You'll be actively encouraged to (1) learn some lesser-known North-East songs & sing them in a way you never imagined, (2) play some North-East tunes, (3) Sing & smile & do (1) & (2) - all at the same time! Singers & players welcome.

BENNY, BARRIE & INGRID PERFORM AT THE ROYAL OAK IN THE EVENING
(£7; advance tickets available from address at end of this form)

Provisional Timetable

10.45   Registration & coffee; please order lunch
at the bar (refreshments not included)
12.30 - 13.30        Lunch

16.45 - Finish

All the sessions will be in a similar format - listen, learn, sing & play. In each session we'll sing & learn to play a few different songs from different times. We'll encourage participation throughout, so bring your voices & instruments & we'll sing our way through North-East songs from 1750 to tomorrow!

N.B. Booking is recommended as numbers are limited. Music will be available but song teaching will be by ear. Maps & accommodation lists sent on request.

The three of them have produced an excellent booklet of songs and tunes to be used at the workshop, which will be valuable long after it.

We still have places for the workshop and tickets for the evening. If you'd like to come, email me on valmaigoodyear[at]aol[dot] com and bring the right money in cash on the day. We're at the Royal Oak in Station Street rather than at our usual home, the Elephant & Castle.

Valmai (Lewes)
