Yes I'm well aware of the long standing prejudice against Behringer products,
and the perceived reputation for unreliability.

I'm also aware that many people are happy with the value for money Behringer products,
and have never had any problems with them.

So in the real world, who's got any useful advice about Behringer Xenyx mixers ???

BTW, I'm looking at one well less than half retail price,
which is obviously a big factor for consideration.

I have two,a 4 channel 6 input one, and a 2 channel 4 input one, both a few years old, and used regularly, mainly for sub-mixing into a bigger system, and had no problems at all.

Yes.

I use them for years & never had any problems. Currently running a 1002FX on all channels (two of which are coming in from a UB502) and it's a dream.

I have a Xenyx 1001, which is battery/mains. Mixer works fine, but the annoying quality issue is with the plug from mains into the mixer, very poor quality. Had several replacements , so have given up on sing it from the mains

right then mates - thanks for the encouraging response.
After a few hours careful consideration, I've just given into whim
and bought one.

In case anyone else fancies a look, it's www.dv247.com .

I got a promo email earlier saying they're doing a bit of a lightning clear out on some Behringer items.

My choice was between:

Behringer XENYX 1622FX Premium Mixer £79.99 + £4.99 delivery

Behringer XENYX 2442FX Premium Mixer £115.00 + free UK delivery

Quite a significant bargain for highly specced mixers
with considerable routing options.

- approx 1/3 of original retail; and much cheaper than the more recent USB versions.

These slightly 'mature' models still seem to be current products,
not yet discontinued.
So I'm hoping mine will be fairly recent manufacture.

I believe they carry a 3 year Behringer guarantee.

After a bit more research this morning;
These 2 mixers are confirmed discontinued 'new old stock'.
I can't find the last year of manufacture,
but maybe still covered under Behringer 3 year guarantee.

Whatever, most of what I buy is bargain discontinued stock.
That's my usual careful informed skint consumer strategy....

looking forward to delivery.

The routing options may be overkill for many trad acoustic folkies
but definitely meet my 'electro folky' requirements.

You were getting volcas, right PFR? I've got the Beats / Bass / Keys (now triggered by my old Oxygen8 which is cool again seeing Kraftwerk still use one!) going through the wee UB502 which them goes in stereo into the 1002FX. Here's a pic:

Yeah.. just when we took out a consolidation loan to clear all credit cards.....

Black Friday week struck !!!

So I couldn't resist the ridiculously bargain Korg prices and pressed 'Buy Now'
on the 3 volcas, a Triton Taktile 25, and a couple of the nano series mini midi controllers...

All totalled at half normal price or less.
It was like the UK music equipment retail business had completely lost their senses for a few days,
and I was very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time
to take full advantage of their commercial hysteria.

That was one very mad week of spending on gear that has been on my wish list for ages...

Maybe not very sensible ??? - but on the other hand, maybe extremely astute !!!

.. and I got some good quality mics for just in case I ever learn to sing..
[ok, I do have some acoustic instruments....]
eg, 300 quid knocked down to 100.. that sort of bargain...

But then I've also got boxes of mid 1990s synth modules, samplers,
and all sorts of processors
that haven't seen the light of day since I moved back from London 15 years ago.

The plan now is to try to stop getting distracted, tied down and demoralised by health & family problems;
clear out a hoard of crap from the back bedroom,
and get my home project studio up and running..
hopefully not too long before I'm 60...

New gear definitely acts as a wake up incentive.

The Xenyx mixer is another uncanny bargain item of key equipment
at just the right time.

I am using various Behringer products. As they stick their badges on many products sold by others, it is impossible to state good or bad as a brand. Variable quality maybe but not to condemn them as a brand.

I use a Mackie mixer with my pa but most things around it, di, blender, foldback etc are all Behringer and reliable. If I hadn't got an old liking for Mackie, I would have tried their mixers without hesitation.

I have a 1204 which like Henry Piper I have used regularly as as sub-mixer to feed into the main PA. I've had no problems with it.

XENYX 2442FX just delivered and unboxed.

Looks good. Dust free packaging - always a good sign when buying cheap.
Immaculate condition - looks like it could have come out of the factory yesterday,
even though it might possibly have been sitting in a warehouse the last few years...???

Behringer always get it right with included accessories:

Rack mount plates [ Yamaha would charge about £30 or more as optional extra ]
Basic USB digital interface
Big thick proper paper book manual
a couple of phono leads

but.. a euro mains lead... oh well...

Providing it works as it should, this is bloody good value for £115 !!!

Now I got to find somewhere to hide it
because the wife is home early today and has the next week or so off work.

So won't be able to plug it in for testing until some time after easter....
unless fingers crossed she plans to visit her family for a few days ....
