The monthly sea music sing at The Press Room in Portsmouth, NH on Saturday, May 16, 2015 will be a benefit for Don Sineti.

I'll post it as a separate thread after this month's sing on Saturday.

LATEST GOOD NEWS – Don is back home!!!

Sat. April 11, 2015 - Mystic, CT - from 2-6pm at the German Club - 54 Greenmanville Ave. (just across the street from the main entrance to the museum.) All you chantey-blasters know the place well.

New Addition:
Sun. April 12, 2015 – Rowayton Chantey Sing – from 4-7pm – Rowayton Arts Center – 145 Rowayton Ave. – Rowayton, CT – hosted by Deirdre Murtha.

New Addition::
Sat. April 18, 2015 – Branford Folk Coffeehouse – 8pm – First Congregational Church of Branford – 1009 Main St. – Branford, CT. All proceeds from the sale of snacks will be donated to Don. Their featured guest that evening will be Gordon Bok – it's a double treat!

Wed. April 22, 2015 - McKinnon's Irish Pub – 7:30pm - in downtown Hartford, CT (on Asylum St. just east of Trumbull) - Jeanne Freeman runs the session. Come for the tunes and the craic. You can even get a meal there.

Sun. May 3, 2015 - South Street Seaport Museum - from 2-4:30pm - 12 Fulton St. (lobby) - downtown New York City. The NY Packet will host this and combine it with our being back at the seaport since the hurricane. We will pass the hat once for the seaport and once for Don.

Sat. May 16, 2015 – The Sounding Board Coffeehouse – 8pm – Universalist Church of West Hartford – 433 Fern St. –West Hartford, CT. The Portable Folk Festival is hosting the evening and they are generously donating their proceeds to Don.

Some Sunday night in May, to be determined by Don's friend Bill Wallach, there will be one at the Main Pub in Manchester, CT where both Don and Bill have played for several years.

Charlie and Judy, that's wonderful. SRS, maybe the Mystic chantey singers who will be at NEFFA on that Saturday will bring some flyers. I should see Geoff and Craig next Saturday and hope to remember to suggest that. They may even know someone who will go on the Friday night and can bring them then.

For people who've never been to a chantey sing in Froshinn Hall, you will have to climb a flight of steps with a railing to get inside. Also, there are never enough chairs to go around. I bring a folding beach chair. You can also stand or sit on the floor.

For anyone unfamiliar with the German Club across from Mystic Seaport, it is also known as Froshinn Hall, and the sign over the door bears that name.

Some Mudcatters may know that Don Sineti, shantyman extraordinaire of Mystic Seaport has been contending with a series of health challenges for the last three months that have had him continuously in a hospital or rehabilitation care facility. Don is on the mend now, but the healing process will be long.

Ever-friendly Don is such a modest soul that he would never ask for help but we realize his financial loss must be staggering and that he could use a lot of help, so some of Don's friends have arranged a few benefit concert - chantey blast events to help defray some of his expenses. The dates and venues are below:

Saturday, April 11, 2015 - Mystic, CT - from 2-5pm at the German Club - 54 Greenmanville Ave. (just across the street from the main entrance to the museum.) - Geoff Kaufman is the point person there.

Wednesday, April 22, 2015 - McKinnon's Irish Pub in downtown Hartford (on Asylum St. just east of Trumbull) - Jeanne Freeman believes the event will start about 6pm. The Irish session officially starts at 7pm

Sun. May 3, 2015 - South Street Seaport Museum - from 2-4:30pm - 12 Fulton St. (lobby) - downtown New York City. The New York Packet will host this and make it our first big event back at the seaport since Hurricane Sandy. We will pass the hat once for the seaport and once for Don.

More events are being planned for May including The Main Pub in Manchester, CT.
