Don't much believe that was a blues song. I think that was a nasty joke our former Secretary of Agriculture (EArl Butz, I think???) here in the U.S.of A. made on a plane once upon a time, which, deservedly, lost him his job.

Are you for real?

Aw c'mon Wyo, you must know it's just the stone ugly again; he must be off his meds and is on a roll, again. That's why he ws so nasto to Seed about his meds on the "Pills" thread. He's just gonna do it now and again when he's feeling on top of the world.

I hate to disappoint you guys. I don't know who the author of the thread is, but I asked the same question a few months ago, but expressed it somewhat more delicately. I haven't looked the old thread up, but the title would include the words 'Cab Calloway', whom I was told was the original singer. I have found no trace of it! The words may not be PC, but it has a great tune. Regards, John

Yes, the joke with that punch-line cost the secretary of agriculture his job....

However, the quote is "Loose" shoes.......

The song you are probably looking for is contained on the recording by Alex Chilton, it is found at this link Alex Chilton - Loose Shoes, Tight Pussy

Don't mind the noise up above, it is only the emptiness of the Wyoming Winds

Sorry Wyo Woman but the song is real(I have it it on tape but don't know who sings it or the time frame) and so am I--live from Vail. Not sure the song is "new" or "loose" shoes but thanks to Dogg and Gargoyle for response.

Some of the filthiest jokes are the funniest. Getting rid of Earl B. (I don't want to say his last name 'cause it's a dirty word) was indicative of an intollerance of differece that exhibits itself all over our society now. To my way of thinking, the sad part of the entire episode was that the reporter who overheard it, in reporting it, violated Earl's privacy in order to enhance his (or to be p.c. should I say it's) reputation and to destroy yet another person politically.

Wey-ell, I hate to disagree with Art but jeez. It wasn't an intolerance of "difference", it was an exhibition of intolerance and poor judgment by E. Butz.

Up here in da' north, we had a similar incident last year which cost a cabinet minister his job, because he was discussing information which was both legally confidential and extremely politically sensitive on a commercial airliner--now he didn't intend for his remarks to be overheard, but they were, and worse yet for him, by a rival politician who was sitting nearby! He violated his own privacy.

Incidentally he was talking about the investigation into the pepper-spraying of peaceful protesters at the APEC meeting in Vancouver three years ago--and saying that the RCMP officer who did the deed (now usually known as "Sgt. Pepper") was going to take the fall for the politicians who had ordered it. You will probably hear a lot of talk along these lines in relation to a certain little tea party held in Seattle last week....

Subject: LYR ADD: Darktown after dark aka Loose Shoes
From: Jim Dixon

Here's my transcription of the video--see Mr Happy's link above. The singer is apparently David Downing, doing a Cab Calloway imitation, from the 1980 film "Loose Shoes." The film consists of comedy sketches in the form of movie trailers (or in this case, a "short"). This sketch is called "Dark Town After Dark," which is apparently also the title of the song, as listed at BMI. The songwriter is Murphy Dunne, Jr.

DARKTOWN AFTER DARK a.k.a. LOOSE SHOES
Murphy Dunne, Jr.

Well, I woke up this afternoon and I felt that everything was pretty much OK. (That's good.)
And I made love to my baby in my usual way. (That's even better.)
I tried to put on my shoes and they were too tight. They would not fit.
Then I went to use the convenience and almost froze my toes.
Here's how it goes:

Now I'm returning my Nobel Peace Prize.
All my Oscars crowd my Pulitzer Prize.
Some folks look at my medals with greed.
I just laugh at 'em all and say all I really need
Is, well, it's, uh …

CHORUS: Tight pussy, loose shoes and a warm place to shit.
Tight pussy, loose shoes and a warm place to shit.
Tight pussy, loose shoes and a warm place to shit.
That's it! That's it!

Now, I don't want a new Cadillac,
And I don't care if I sit in the front or the back.
You can keep your daughter unless she's real young,
'Cause those rumors are true and I'm really hung.
On what, boys? CHORUS

Now you won't find me in a watermelon patch,
Out with the boys diggin' up some scratch
Just to buy some muggles (?), maybe some hash,
And I'm not usually invited to a Republican bash
Unless they got, well, you know … CHORUS

Thanks Mr Happy. Time does make one forget but I just finished listening to Cab Calloway doing Minnie the Moocher on You Tube. One of my favorites.

Definitely muggles Jim. (supposedly the origin of Muggsy Spanier's name!).

Wasn't Murphy Dunne one of the Blues Brothers' Band (Murph and the Magictones) in the film?
Quack!

Drifting off a bit here, but Sippie Wallace used to sing 'I'm a mighty tight woman', a model of subtlety compared to the 'Loose Shoes'number. Well, up to a point.
