Subject: Did Bill Leader Record Micho Russell From: GUEST,Fred McCormick Date: 07 Apr 15 - 07:35 AM I've just been listening to Bill Ochs and Peter Browne on Lyric FM talking about the former's double CD of the recordings of Micho Russell. See http://mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=156907&messages=1 In it Ochs says that in 1969 he took Micho to meet Bill Leader (the legendary folk music recording engineer) and Leader recorded him. This would have been well before Bill started Leader Sound, and while he was working for Topic. Does anyone know whether the tape still survives and what sort of state it's in? Also, whether there are any other unissued recordings by Bill Leader that have yet to see the light of day? |
Subject: RE: Did Bill Leader Record Micho Russell From: GUEST,Peter Laban Date: 07 Apr 15 - 07:58 AM I think you'll find Bill Ochs didn't take Micho to see Bill Leader. Bill Leader did however record Micho in november 1969, during his (Micho's) first trip to London. The recordings survive and Bill (Ochs) used some of the material in his new compilation of Micho's music. |
