From: GUEST,Róisín

Hi guys,
I heard this song last year on Islay and didn't recognise it and didn't get the name all I have is this poor quality video of it. I'd sorely love to hear it again so would appreciate it if any clever person could name the song from this video!

Thank you !

Sorry Roisin I couldn't hear enough words to even make a start at looking for it hopefully someone else will have better luck

If you remember the date and place perhaps someone else recorded it from a different angle in the room and got a clearer version try you tube. also if you write to the hotel or bar if it was a regular they might be able to help you contact them.

Have listened several times and still can't make it out. Wouldn't be my choice of a good night out with all that other noise going on! Hope Eddy can help you.

Think I've got it: not Skerryvore but Skipinnish - "Western Ocean" from the album of the same name. Cracking song without the background noise!
Will post a link later, but it's on YouTube ( + lyrics) and in iTunes.

Don't think so..listen to the link and then Skippinish on youtube...two different songs I think. I know the fiddler in Skip. I'll ask him....the manager in the pub is positive it's Skerryvore,so...to be continued!!

I think I hear the lyrics "..back to the island " and " where the beaches are .. and the water is..". Also, possibly, "buttermilk".

The backing in the video clip is different from the YouTube, with keyboard featuring, but I thought the melody was the same. Roisin seemed to think it was the right one, but I'm happy to be corrected if wrong.
