Dear Mr. GNU .....

It pains me greatly to reveal this clue.

ALL Files Within YOUR SYSTEM contain a TIME DATE STAMP

Look to the time, date, file and observe what system was opperating.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

The GATES were opened when JOBS were advanced to MOORE like you

One of those links mentions a Chrome update and a zip file. Do you Chrome? Are you on auto-updates?

Is it worth deleting a few zip files &/or parking them on a memory stick?

searching for zip and tmp files might be instructive.

Micro$oft et al are not averse to making unprofessional oversights in cleaning up after updates. One recent Office update forgot to delete some "gofaster" files that regenerate anyway if not there. If you run macros this happened and was incomprehesible. Fortunately techie guys get on the case pretty fast (don't we?). Much of my website HTML is generated in VBA macros. And some JavaScript files too! Sometimes errors are subtle, which is why I try to tell people if I notice their website has an error - they return the favour often.

Startled me. 650k to 1.75M. I kept an eye on the scan when it hit 1.5M and saw something odd about Google Update so I took a screen shot and then I searched the topic at Kaspersky. Might be.
