I'll be up in Castleton in the Peak District for three days next week - off on one of my regular jaunts? I've read that there's a music session or club in the Barrel Inn at Bretton on Wednesday evenings - worth a phone call to see if there's anything on the 20th May - but I wondered if anyone had info on music in the area. I'm up there on Tuesday and leaving on Friday.

If not, there's usually something on in Sheffield...

Sure you will have done all the usual Google searches, Will, so I will not repeat them. What I will say is that, many years ago, we made our own music at the Castle Hotel and the Cheshire Cheese in Castleton and at the Nags Head in Edale. Not saying they are still receptive to it but if you find nothing else it may be worth ringing round a few local pubs to see if they want to liven up a quiet mid-week night :-)

Good luck anyway. See if you can spend some time sat near the Speedwell Cavern and watch the look of horror on cyclists faces when they realise they are doing 40 MPH down Winnats Pass and suddenly see the cattle grid at the bottom :-)

Cheers, Dave - I'll do a spot of investigation on the phone.

I'd planned to go to either the Speedwell Cavern or the Devil's Arse - or possibly both. Depends on the weather, really - and hope to amble up Mam Tor at some point...
