Subject: RE: Irish Traditional Music Book From: Dave the Gnome Date: 01 Jun 15 - 02:19 PM Thanks for letting us know, Peter. If anyone picks up the copy I have scanned and would like to contribute to the author I am sure someone will let us know how to do it. The cover of the one I have is similar but not exactly the same as the ones in the link. It has the picture but not the stave at the bottom. Cheers DtG |

Subject: Irish Traditional Music Book From: Dave the Gnome Date: 01 Jun 15 - 12:10 PM Mrs G was after a folder to use for dead people (don't ask!) and got a really good one from the charity shop. The added bonus was that it was currently used to file a copy of a 48 page book (Excluding covers) called "Irish Traditional Music" Published by the Craobh Naithi Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eierann ('scuse the absence of squiggly bits on the letters - I don't know how :-( ) Most pages have 3 tunes on them so I will not attempt to put them all down but they range from stuff I have heard of like Planxty Irwin and the Rocky Road to Dublin to stuff I have no idea about like Gillen's Apples and The bog down in the valley. There is some stuff with Gaelic titles, a few songs with Gaelic words and at the end half a dozen standard Christmas carols! There are a few others that I strongly suspect are not Irish but what the heck :-) Anyhow, For your delight and delectation I have scanned the lot and posted it it in a folder on my drop box. If anyone wants to pick it up PM me and I will send you my Dropbox details. Oh - A few pages at the end had some other tunes, including Wooden Heart and The bridges of Paris - Which I have not scanned but I am learning on accordion. Must have been made for me :-) |
