Or as when the question was asked in the rugby club changing room of "whose shit" (somebody had farted)the answer was (in chorus) "yours if you want it".

Ahh I was trying to figure out where I knew that name from.

Since Les mentioned Lancashire it reminded me of Mark Dowding's wonderful version of the "Lancashire Liar"

I would love to see a pig kill near 200 people.

Intrestin Mathew, "I would love to see a pig kill near 200 people." Any particular people - perhaps you could name a few.

Ey up Breezy!
I had a great time in Cornwall last week at Bodmin, Bude, Wadebridge and Penzance singing a few songs for you all and listening to the singers.
"Lancashire Liar" and a few other songs are on Youtube if you have a look.

I now think of Mark as "The man in black", as we both turned up in black shirts and trousers when I was support act to him at the Barlow, not planned, just coincidence.

I was at a party last night and Mark sang. Tasty guitar playing and a pretty good Geordie accent too (not bad for a Lancashire lad). Go and see him if you can.

Yes - Just noticed tonight at Swinton Folk Club - Would have been there had I have still been in Swinton! When are you at the other Monday club with a very similar name, Mark? - Only 2 letters different, Skipton! I may have moved 40+ miles but I like to keep my folk clubs consistent :-)

Mark is great - the best interpreter around of Harry Boardman's Lancashire repertoire, but also a fine performer in his own right.

Dave - I did Skipton in May so I'm afraid you've missed that one. You missed a good night at Swinton tonight as well!

Brian - Thanks for that.

I'm looking forward to the gig.
I think one or two people saw me at Saddleworth last year and recommended me to the club so thanks to them for doing that.
See you Friday night.
Cheers
Mark

Purpose: To distinguish this Mark Dowding from the BC Mark Dowding, a fine whistle player who's been at our festival (Princeton Traditional Music Festival) in past years.

biog of the Canadian whistle player, from the Wheat In The Barley website
"Woodwind specialist Mark Dowding, also a co-founder of the respected Gypsy jazz group The Hot Club of Mars, is a veteran of numerous folk festivals and concert stages across western Canada.
He creates elegant melodies, harmonies and counterpoints on a wide range of wind instruments, including various types of flutes, whistles, saxophones and harmonicas.
Over a long and storied musical career, he has guested with many Canadian folk music icons such as Valdy, The Paperboys, Sylvia Tyson and Stan Rogers."
