I got hooked years ago with Nothing ever happens but have been listening to more of their stuff recently. All very good but best not ask if it is folk :-P

I loved the early Del Amitri stuff - Justin Currie wrote some great lyrics and they had good melodies and decent playing. A great band.

I don't know their later stuff, but my iTunes has their early albums in it.

posting from lg tv browser as pc died this evening - possible hard drive expired - so may be offline for a while...

anyway, the dels were one of the few 90s bands we liked. mrs punkfolkrocker has near complete cd singles / albums collection.
some excellent b sides.

saw a couple of london gigs 20ish years ago...

one around xmas / new year was superb - would have been an ideal soundboard bootleg if it had ever been leaked !!!

right.. typing with tv remote is pain in arse so may not be repeated..

Saw them open for The Rolling Stones on the Voodoo Lounge tour at Don Valley Stadium.

The following day I bought two of their albums.

Yeah, like them a lot. Since reading your op, I have been listening to some more of their gear on Spotify.

Oh, I know one or two local Sussex 'Catters personally who are also very fond of DA.

My favourite songs included "The Surface Of The Moon" and "Be My Downfall" - the latter one being the adulterer's theme song!

I have been Spotifying too! Wonderful piece of software for discovering good stuff and realising how bad others are. Still using the free version.

I used to like their music - still have some of the 12" singles.

Saw Justin Currie on the songwriters circle with Chris Difford and Boo Hewerdine - very good. Here is a clip from it:

"Be My Downfall" is the song that caught my ear way back when and caused me to by a couple of Del Amitri CDs. I must say that none of their other songs really blew my kilt up.

Been a fan for years. Have several CD's and quite a few CD singles. Mrs Viking and number one son are also fans. Oddly enough a couple of weeks ago, the musicians I play with in Largs were discussing them. It seems one of the band has a house here.

Hello Eric - Not seen you for ages. Still up in the far north?

Hi Dave. I was just thinking it's been a long time since I last saw you as well. It was a Yorkshire gathering at least about 2005.I still drop in here to see what's what and have a session when I get back down to Yorkshire, catching up with Bill and some of the others. Yes, still up in the North. Moved to Orkney, then to Speyside and now live in Largs. Am just about to start dialysis as I have kidney failure. I still play (Every Wednesday) though it's getting difficult sometimes and I run out of energy easily but I have a gig at, "Largs Live" this coming weekend.

Wasn't aware of them until "Roll To Me" charted over here in the US. I thought it was about as perfectly smart as a 3-minute pop song could be and I bought the album. It was then I discovered what a fabulous writer Justin Currie is. His solo stuff is fab too. Call me a fanboy...
