Don't know about a song, but Roger Tallroth's "christening waltz" , Josefin 's waltz,might come in handy later,perhaps ?

Here is an absolutely lovely song:

Tomorrow Lies in the Cradle

It's sung by Fred Hellerman (not Pete Seeger, as the video says).

Whenever I am handed a new baby to dandle (most recently my first grandson) I always sing "Bonny at Morn" as its introduction to traditional song; also to remind the parents what they have let themselves in for:
"We're all laid idle with keeping the bairn"

Lots of my pals have been having babies recently. I always go for Child Ballad #6 or Child Ballad #102.

And, before the birth:

At a folk meeting tonight one of our happy participants had welcomed her first grandchild today and asked if anyone knew a happy folk song about birth. All I could come up with off the top of my head was the Riddle Song. Any other suggestions.
