Subject: RE: New, 16-track tenor guitar CD - Will Fly From: GUEST,Pete from seven stars link Date: 10 Jul 15 - 01:13 PM Not entirely unique, will. The red lion at snargate, Kent is similar, and even still has outside loo!. Sadly minus music nights as far as I know. |
Subject: RE: New, 16-track tenor guitar CD - Will Fly From: Will Fly Date: 10 Jul 15 - 10:29 AM Yes - when Elsie became too infirm to run the pub, the brewery decided it was for sale - and it has been bought by a local businessman (and fan of Elsie's), who intends to keep it running exactly as it was. Great news, eh? Shame the old Brooms couldn't have kept going like that... |

Subject: RE: New, 16-track tenor guitar CD - Will Fly From: Will Fly Date: 09 Jul 15 - 10:11 AM Thanks folks - roll up! roll up! Plenty for everyone! :-) I've got a double-header on Saturday, July 18th, if anyone wants to hear some of the tenor guitar stuff live. I'll be playing with my buddy Chris Wolferstan (as "Will & Wolfie") at Eastbourne's Underground Theatre from 11am to noon. Then Chris and I will be playing as the main guests at "Elsie's" - alias The Queen's Head in Cowden Pound, Kent, in the evening. If you've never been to Elsie's, it's worth at least one visit in a lifetime, as it's a pub that's barely changed in 50 or 60 years. No pumps, just barrels in the back room. There's a sign by the front entrance which says "No lager sold here"... It's a unique place. |

Subject: New, 16-track tenor guitar CD - Will Fly From: Will Fly Date: 08 Jul 15 - 12:10 PM Just a bit of shameless promotion for my new (third) CD of tenor guitar music called "Just Four Strings: Tunes For Tenor Guitar" - details of which, plus samples of the tracks, are on my website at: http://www.willflyguitar.com/cds.html Some tracks use just guitar backing, and others also have mandolin, acoustic bass and even the odd but of percussion. It's a mix of early jazz, ragtime, French chansons and stuff from the '30s and '40s. All good clean fun... |
