Subject: Shanty sings, Bristol, RI From: ChanteyLass Date: 15 Jul 15 - 08:51 PM Coggeshall Farm Museum in Bristol, RI, has begun a series of monthly shanty sings on the third Friday of the month at 6:30 PM. It is outdoors around a campfire, so if you come, bring a blanket or chair. If the weather is bad, it will be moved to a barn. Also, the terrain is rough and not easily accessible. You can bring food. There has been a food truck, but I didn't see it last month. Perhaps it arrived after I did. Also, the museum charges $5 for non-members, but nobody seemed to be collecting money last month. This sing is very relaxed with song print-outs available for sale or for loan! It would be nice to see more people at these. So far the number of participants has been moderate. If you come, check directions at the Coggeshall Farm Museum website. http://www.coggeshallfarm.org/visit-us/hours-rates-and-directions My car's navigation software doesn't quite take me there. If you have time before the sing or can make a day trip of it, you can explore Bristol, which sadly made wealth from the Triangle Trade, and its other museums. It's odd for me to use this spelling of shanty instead of chantey, but that's how the museum spells it. |
