I am .looking for the lyrics for the song about 'being a soldier for Marlborough' which is sung to the tune of Waltzing Matilda.

Halley, here is a link to an earlier thread about this song - there links in that thread to the complete words and a discussion about where the song came from. Enjoy!

And for those too idle to check out the links mentioned.. the song is &The Recruiting Sergeant& and waltzing matilda is sung to this tune and not the other way around... as if the Aussies have come up with an original melody of their own.. come on now Bruce who you kidding?
The Grand Union Morris do this on their latest cd.. &Can't Get the Buggers Out&.. well worth a listen.. along with some other good stuff, namely &Princess Alice&, &Rolling Up, Rolling Down& and & The Roseabella&
Mick

Actually Mick, if you check out the links you'll find a completely different story. And it's "The Bold (or Gay) Fusilier".

Cheers,
Alan
