Subject: New Sheet Music site, Musical Bouquet From: Steve Gardham Date: 05 Aug 15 - 06:24 PM Excellent new sheet music site. Just Googling 'Musical Bouquet' should take you there. Musical Bouquet run by Chas. Sheard published sheet music from c1850 till into the 20th century. The website gives a full list of their output plus dates and serial numbers and where available thumbnails of the covers. Just added to the site is a shop with tons and tons of sheet music from the 18thc to the 20thc. Prices are about average compared with other sites and they take PayPal. There's some Harry Clifton, Arthur Lloyd, Vance material, but I've just snapped up 2 of the Cliftons. Some interesting trad music including Child ballads on the Scottish page. |
Subject: RE: New Sheet Music site, Musical Bouquet From: Billy Weeks Date: 06 Aug 15 - 05:44 AM Brilliant site, Steve. This is a great and long-needed guide to the MB, one of the key sources for anyone interested in nineteenth century popular music and song. The shop section is also a nicely organised facility. Prices may strike the newest collectors as high, but this is the way the serious market is settling down and we must get used to it. I look back to the fifties, when sheets of the Musical Bouquet era could be bought for sixpence or less and the finest collectables with coloured lithographed covers cost half a crown - but,oh dear,I'm just twisting the knife! |

Subject: RE: New Sheet Music site, Musical Bouquet From: Steve Gardham Date: 06 Aug 15 - 10:21 AM John, I hope you don't mind. I've given Mervyn Slatter your email address and he may get in touch asking for details of your MB pieces. He suggested that one of us, not so long in the tooth, should do the same for Davidsons publishers, but we're all pretty long in the tooth, those of us that have any teeth left! The site certainly makes a good addition to the Lester Levy online collection and various others mostly dedicated to particular singers. We have done the best here to flag up my favourites, Harry Clifton and Joe Geoghegan. |

Subject: RE: New Sheet Music site, Musical Bouquet From: Billy Weeks Date: 07 Aug 15 - 01:11 AM Steve: That's fine, though I doubt my disorganised collection will reveal anything Mervyn doesn't already know. A similar study of Davidson is a great idea - for somebody with more energy than I now have left! Duncombe would be another possibility. |
Subject: RE: New Sheet Music site, Musical Bouquet From: Vashta Nerada Date: 07 Aug 15 - 10:01 AM It looks like Steve has modestly not mentioned his own participation in this site. Thank you, and thanks for sharing! |
