Madhoose Musictheatre is a music club operating in the Viewpark and Uddingston areas of North and South Lanarkshire - we've been going since 1988 and we've taught thousands of young people and adults to sing and play a huge variety of instruments, and many of them have gone on to successful full and part time careers in music, ot their musical activities and the confidence and self esteem they developed because of the club helped them in whatever walk of life they decided to choose.

We are hoping to start 2 new groups this autumn, a ukelele group and an autoharp group, and we're looking for instruments that we can lend to new members. Go on, set your uke free! it's probably stuck in the back of a cupboard or gathering dust on a shelf - you've never played it and probably never will! We will gladly give it a new and nurturing home and make sure it's played nearly every day!

You may not know what an autoharp is, but may still have one one in the back of your shed that belonged to your Granny or Mad Uncle Mick - it will probably be a dark or black stained wood, it's a flat box with strings over it and on top of the strings there are chord bars. It may even have a fancy design painted on the surface, like a very colourful red rose. (the one in the picture is a modern instrument). They were popular probably up until the late 40's and 50's and then suffered the same fate as the ukelele - stuffed at the back of a cupboard and forgotten.

We will take your autoharp from you in any condition, becuase if it's mangled, it might still be possible to make up a new instrument from several old ones.

Please contact us if you have an instrument you would like to donate, or if you are interested in playing yourself or have a child who might be. The club operates in the Uddingston/Viewpark area, but you don't have to come from the area to join, we are literally open to everyone, there are no barriers to joining. We provide low cost professional music tuition and there are concession prices availble for all sorts of reasons! Talk to us and find out.
