From: Mr Red Date: 13 Aug 15 - 04:46 AM Can I point out that often it is easier to have both threads open at the same time. target=_blank will do that for the surfer. see below eg <a href="http://www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=157899&messages=1" target=_blank">Geoff's first post in this thread</a> note the whole URL has to be referenced as per: <a href="http://www.interestingwebsite.info" target=_blank">Another web page within or outwith Mudcat</a> try it Geoff's first post in this thread |
Subject: RE: Tech: blue clicky links inside a Permathread?? From: Joe Offer Date: 12 Aug 15 - 08:55 PM Geoff, Jeri's method will take the reader to the message in question...if that message is showing in the thread. If you want to display one message alone, right-click the "printer-friendly" link under the message, and copy the printer-friendly link. If you want to get fancy, you can delete the parts I've made bold below. Remember that if you have control of a PermaThread, you can correct your mistakes. http://mudcat.org/detail_pf.cfm?messages__Message_ID=3729904 -Joe- |

Hover your mouse over it, and it's the last number in the address. Jack's idea might work a lot better for you though. |

Subject: RE: Tech: blue clicky links inside a Permathread?? From: Jack Campin Date: 12 Aug 15 - 02:40 PM It's in the "Printer Friendly" link under the message. Obvious, isn't it. |
Subject: RE: Tech: blue clicky links inside a Permathread?? From: GeoffLawes Date: 12 Aug 15 - 02:37 PM Thank you Jeri, is the red bit,the address, to be found in the bar above the top post in the thread - in the case of this current thread #3729846 ? If not where do I find it? |
Subject: RE: Tech: blue clicky links inside a Permathread?? From: Jeri Date: 12 Aug 15 - 01:28 PM <a href="#3729846">Geoff's first post in this thread</a> The red is the address (where the link goes to) and the blue is the title. The black stuff needs to be there and doesn't change. |
Subject: Tech: blue clicky links inside a Permathread?? From: GeoffLawes Date: 12 Aug 15 - 12:53 PM There must, surely, be a way for people who have the editing authority over a permathread to add a link (like a "blue clicky") which would enable people to click straight to another post within the permathread? Can anyone explain how to do it? When a permathread is very long then posts about the same issue can be very far apart and therefore may not be easily discovered by the casual browser. |
