The title of this thread was "R4 Gt. Irish Songbook." I changed the title to BBC Radio 4 Great Irish Songbook, but I do wonder why the thread title couldn't be clear in the first place.

Quite often here, Mudcatters from the British Isles criticize our American desire for clarity as cultural illiteracy. But from our side of the pond, it seems like all you people talk in code. C'mon, give us a break and talk English, willya?

The program(me) is available in the US at this link (click). I just heard a clip from Jerry O'Reilly (Liberty Boy). I'm sorry I missed meeting him last time I was in Ireland, but I got lost...in the rain....and all those young people were vomiting on the streets of Dublin because it was a Friday....

I don't think everyone will understand the reference R4 which I suppose is BBC radio 4 (UK)

That's not how I remember the programme, Keith.
FoA was certainly included, but many more, of all stripes, were discussed and selected before and after.

The first song was actually Maggie Barry singing "She moved through the fair"!

Good to hear fellow mudcatter Liberty Boy talking about the sean nós tradition and providing examples.

Worth another listen.
