Listening to their Shrewsbury set in the Spanish sun. What a wonderful band they are, perhaps carrying on the Albion Band tradition!

I saw them at Shrewsbury and thought they were brilliant. Their songs have really good tunes but I have to say I couldn't hear the words - possibly just a balance thing?

I haven't been anywhere to have seen Nancy Kerr for some time now ; is James Fagan a member of this band ? I fondly remember an impromptu little session with him in the tent field at Chippenham Folk Festival whilst Nancy looked after the baby !

James Fagan is in the band. He also performed at Shrewsbury in a duo, "The James Brothers", with Jamie McClennan.

I was there and have watched the online footage since. Outstanding band and songs but appalling sound

That's funny, I recorded sound from the online footage, did a phase rebuild and slightly widened the stereo spread in Adobe Audition CC and it sounds superb. It's a shame that we have a 10 year old laptop with us in Spain because it can't handle the video, hoping that the rewind page is still open when we get back from Spain next week.

Wednesday 18 Nov 2015 19:30 Chichester Festival Theatre; BBC Concert Orchestra

A celebration of British music at Chichester Festival Theatre with electrifying folk duo Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, who have twice won Best Duo at BBC Radio 2's Folk Awards. This concert will be recorded for later broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Orchestral classical music inspired by traditional folk song will sit alongside interpretations that cast new light on traditional folk material from Nancy - BBC Radio 2's current Folk Singer of the Year - and James.

Nancy's earthy fiddle playing marries perfectly with the rhythm of James' bouzouki, and their melting vocal harmonies bring a magical quality to their evocative storytelling.

Nancy is certainly busy!

The Sweet Liberties project marks the sealing of Magna Carta 800 years ago. It is part of the Houses of Parliament's 2015 anniversaries programme Parliament in the Making, supported by the EFDSS, Folk by The Oak and the PRS for Music Foundation.

Nancy Kerr, Martyn Joseph, Sam Carter and Maz O'Connor - with Patsy Reid and Nick Cooke - will perform new music, written in response to the rights and liberties that people have fought to achieve and protect over the past eight centuries.

Nancy paid a visit to the Houses of Parliament with Maz O'Connor and Patsy Reid, and has composed Written on My Skin and Lilah, a song about the Suffragette Muriel Matters.

24th November – Cambridge Junction
25th November – Colston Hall, Bristol
26th November – The Met, Bury
27th November – St David's Hall, Cardiff
28th November – Cecil Sharp House, London
29th November – The Sage, Gateshead

And I understand that there will be a performance in Westminster. Now that really would be a perk for the politicians!

From The Independent this morning;

Nancy Kerr and the Sweet Liberties project performed four songs last night in the State Rooms of Speaker's House in the Palace of Westminster.

Ms Kerr wrote 'Kingdom' inspired by Magna Carta, while 'Lila' considers the Suffragettes. This weekend they retire to a cottage in Cambridgeshire to work on a 90 minute set for their forthcoming tour.
