Subject: RE: Leader Records. The unreleased LPs From: Hagman Date: 13 Sep 15 - 08:13 PM I agree, Reinhard - there were two Dave Burland LPs on Trailer - 2029 and 2082, followed by two solos and the McColl complilation on Rubber (these also were part of or became part of the Bulmer empire?) Some details here -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Shipbuilders/Rubber_Records |
Subject: RE: Leader Records. The unreleased LPs From: GUEST Date: 13 Sep 15 - 03:13 PM Only in so far as the information is not available from the Bulmer estate. The releases themselves are all from Bill Leader's day. It is curious that nothing has been heard about the back catalog. As the executor has a duty to provide the maximum return for the beneficiaries it does suggest that the master tapes may no longer exist. |
Subject: RE: Leader Records. The unreleased LPs From: GUEST,STEVE Date: 13 Sep 15 - 06:39 AM aren't these all tied up with the Bulmer thing. I presume there is no progress on this |

Subject: RE: Leader Records. The unreleased LPs From: Reinhard Date: 12 Sep 15 - 01:52 PM Maybe "Dave Burland" was later re-issued on Rubber Records, Ray, though I don't find evidence for this in a cursory internet search. My copy is definitely Trailer LER 2082. |
Subject: RE: Leader Records. The unreleased LPs From: GUEST,padgett Date: 12 Sep 15 - 01:40 PM Dave Burland's ~ Dalesman's Litany was Trailer LER 2029 "Dave Burland" was released on Rubber Records, having been recorded at Leadersound Ray |
Subject: RE: Leader Records. The unreleased LPs From: Reinhard Date: 12 Sep 15 - 12:50 PM Yup. It was released in 1972. 058, 059, 061, 064 and 066 were probably planned for Leader issues as were all other albums between 040 and 071. 013 up to 039 and 072 up to 108 were Trailer issues but the last one, 111 i.e. Walter Pardon's Our Side of the Baulk, was a Leader issue again. |
Subject: RE: Leader Records. The unreleased LPs From: GUEST,Fred McCormick Date: 12 Sep 15 - 12:41 PM Thanks Reinhard. I take it that 2082 was not one of the unreleased? |
Subject: RE: Leader Records. The unreleased LPs From: Reinhard Date: 12 Sep 15 - 12:17 PM LER 2082 is Dave Burland's eponymous album Dave Burland. Don't know how the Musical Traditions discography missed that one. |
Subject: Leader Records. The unreleased LPs From: GUEST,Fred McCormick Date: 12 Sep 15 - 10:49 AM The Leader sound discography in Musical Traditions has a number catalogue entries for LPs which were never issued. They are listed below, and my apologies for not being able to include the lettered prefixes or the pricing codes, since these are not shown for unreleased material in MT's listing. Presumably, it was the vinyl shortage of 1973 which caused Leader's demise and prevented these LPs from seeing the light of day. One of these numbers, I am almost sure, was earmarked for an LP of Elizabeth Cronin, although I do not know which one. Would there be anyone out there who could provide any discographical details? Many hopeful thanks. 058 059 061 064 066 082 107 109 110 |
