Are you lot in the pay of facebook? Some of us view social media as a spawn of the devil and also, possibly, a marketing trap aimed at parting me, personally, from my money, data, and self respect.

We might still be interested in tunes.

Ok Folks our facebook is gathering people and sessions:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/502906953217878/

The page has no internal organisation yet - I think that is one of the problems with facebook.

Any suggestions for organising what we do on facebook?

If you want to publish organised information then you should be using a proper website not Facebook.

What sort of organising do you mean, Les? You can organise and publicise events on facebook, for example.

Peter is quite correct websites are much better for presenting and organising information. By which I mean putting contact details, venues and times and events into some geographical format so that people seeking BITS can find them easily.

Here is a rather excellent one:

In Greater Manchester etc.

facebook is good for sharing quick bits (!) of information but not so good for more permanent stuff

Cheers

One possible way (maybe) of organising. Encourage all the BITS to have their own FB page - I see Chester has already. Then list them as a File, or list links to websites. I don't know if a group can have a list of 'friends' or 'like' another group.

More work for you I suppose, but if you updated contact details in the File when it was mentioned on your page it would save people scrolling down through years of posts.

Thanks Mo, I will explore the file idea - that's probably the best bet unless someone wants to set up a website

Hi Folks BITS seems to have taken off a bit (!) Quite a few around the UK:

BITS in the UK This Group has been set up so that people can find Beginners & Improvers Tunes Sessions (BITS) across the UK. It could also be a forum for sharing good practice.

Our Session in Manchester:

Songs & Tunes with The Beech Band
