Subject: Song challenge From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 08 Oct 15 - 08:43 AM It's been a while since we had one of these. I found this title of a F.Scott Fitzgerald short story which seemed to me to cry out as a title of a blues, country or road song: Dice, Brass Knuckles and Guitar. RtS |
Subject: RE: Song challenge From: GUEST,mayomick Date: 08 Oct 15 - 09:36 AM F.Scott Fitzgerald books,I thought I'd read 'em all , but there's one if I did that I surely can't recall . Unless I might have read it in some smokey bar ....... |
Subject: RE: Song challenge: Dice, Brass Knuckles & Guitar From: GUEST,henryp Date: 08 Oct 15 - 10:43 AM A last throw of the dice And luck it rolled my way I walked away with thousands On this my lucky day But I played a bad loser Who cursed his rotten luck And I was unsuspecting When those hard brass knuckles struck Now I'm standing on a corner And I'm playing my guitar I'm singing for my supper And I'm gazing at the stars |
Subject: RE: Song challenge: Dice, Brass Knuckles and Guitar From: hsempl Date: 08 Oct 15 - 01:56 PM That's good! Here's mine (just a chorus): Roll the dice and take your chances The only choice is lose or win And if someone throws brass knuckles on the table You can always pick up your old guitar again (and tag line at the end of the last chorus: Your old guitar will always be your friend) |
