Subject: Aquavina-Anyone heard of this instrument From: cnd Date: 09 Oct 15 - 04:50 PM So I was just browsing around on the web and I stumbled upon an article about an instrument called an "Aquavina." It's essentially a mountain dulcimer with a water-resonater. I'd love to hear one in action, but I couldn't really find any good videos of it. Anyone know some songs with one? Here's the only real video I could find on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vvoqiBj5FQ |

Subject: RE: Aquavina-Anyone heard of this instrument From: cnd Date: 09 Oct 15 - 10:40 PM So I found a little more. The instrument maker himself (Jaques Dudon) has a song called Naïades, which you can hear here: http://www.jango.com/music/Jacque+Dudon That's all I've found for now. |

Subject: RE: Aquavina-Anyone heard of this instrument From: Tattie Bogle Date: 11 Oct 15 - 08:24 AM Sounds good but guess it's just one he made himself and made up the name to go with it. At Loanhead Music Festival every year they have a competition for making playable instruments out of recycled materials, some of which have some similarities to this. Then the was the orchestra in S America of instruments made out of scrap metal, and there's a guy who busks in Dublin on a sort of banjo made from an old Castrol gallon oilcan |
Subject: RE: Aquavina-Anyone heard of this instrument From: cnd Date: 11 Oct 15 - 10:39 AM Yes Tattie, he did make it up himself. It was made by Jaques Dudon, who has made numerous instruments using water with the sound. He has several other interesting concept instruments he's made. For example, he has one that uses waves of light in certain positions to make music, called "disque photosonique." |
