Subject: RE: Brian Dawson: CD Recordings From: Backwoodsman Date: 09 Aug 17 - 11:46 AM Richard, if it's the two posthumous CDs that Brian's nephew and Tom Lane put together that you're after, it's possible that they are still available from Tom. Let me know, and I'll check with Tom. |
Subject: RE: Brian Dawson: CD Recordings From: Richard Mellish Date: 09 Aug 17 - 09:07 AM OOPS! Still not recognised then. Cookie now reset. |
Subject: RE: Brian Dawson: CD Recordings From: GUEST Date: 09 Aug 17 - 09:06 AM GUEST above was me: going direct to this thread instead of via the home page apparently caused Mudcat not to recognise me. |
Subject: RE: Brian Dawson: CD Recordings From: GUEST Date: 09 Aug 17 - 09:04 AM A reference elsewhere led me to this thread. I remember Brian Dawson from one or two years at the National Folk Music Festival at Sutton Bonnington and regret not hearing him more often. GUEST,Richard Smith 29 Oct 15 - 12:31 PM said "The website www.briandawson.co.uk isn't up and running yet (apologies)". Sadly it still isn't (unless it was for a while and has ceased again). I sent an email to lindumboy@gmail.com last week enquiring about both the website and the CDs but have not yet had any response. Does anyone know anything? |
Subject: RE: Brian Dawson: CD Recordings From: Dave Sutherland Date: 29 Oct 15 - 06:37 PM John has informed me that he will have copies with him on Sunday night at Tigerfolk, Stumble Inn, Long Eaton. (Guest Jody Kruskal - 7:30pm start) |
Subject: RE: Brian Dawson: CD Recordings From: Backwoodsman Date: 29 Oct 15 - 01:23 PM "recently lost? According to Wikipedia he died nearly two years ago." To those of us lucky enough to count Brian as a friend, it seems like only yesterday. |
Subject: RE: Brian Dawson: CD Recordings From: Acorn4 Date: 29 Oct 15 - 12:50 PM Also note that if you run across John and Sheila Bentham in their travels around the country, they have copies of the CDs. |
Subject: RE: Brian Dawson: CD Recordings From: GUEST,Richard Smith Date: 29 Oct 15 - 12:31 PM Thanks all for continued interest in Brian and his work. The website www.briandawson.co.uk isn't up and running yet (apologies) - work in progress and technical hitches. Brian would be very amused! I continue to collate materials as I form a proper archive, starting with Brian's own material and that I have collected so far. I'd welcome for any contributions of memories, stories, photographs and recordings etc. In the longer term I have in mind to edit a book... Please do make contact at lindumboy@gmail.com including for CD orders. Thanks, Richard. |
Subject: RE: Brian Dawson: CD Recordings From: Acorn4 Date: 29 Oct 15 - 11:03 AM I get the impression that it's a recently constructed website especially for preserving the archive, as Brian himself was not tech savvy and I can't envisage him being online. I remember having a conversation with him at Sidmouth when he was astounded that a hotel he'd been at in Scotland wouldn't take cash! Worth persevering to see if it comes online as it's obviouly a new development timed to coincide with the CDs coming out. |
Subject: RE: Brian Dawson: CD Recordings From: GUEST,Reinhard Date: 29 Oct 15 - 10:22 AM recently lost? According to Wikipedia he died nearly two years ago. Maybe that's why his website isn't working any more. |
Subject: RE: Brian Dawson: CD Recordings From: Richard Spencer Date: 29 Oct 15 - 04:58 AM And very good they are too... |
Subject: Brian Dawson: CD Recordings From: Acorn4 Date: 28 Oct 15 - 02:09 PM Lincolnshire singer Brian Dawson who we recently lost so tragically has now had some of his performances put onto CD by his nephew Richard. There are two CDs - one live and one studio which cost £6.00 each all proceeds going towards the preservation of Brian's song collection/archive. There is, according to the CD a website:- www.briandawson.co.uk but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment so maybe it is a "work in progress", but anyone interested in the project can contact Richard Smith at:- lindumboy@gmail.com |
