A friend of mine (in England) who has a new (and first) baby is looking for a CD with lullabies that she can learn to sing to him. Any recommendations from Mudcatters?

Kitty

"Heavanly Lulabies" >

A friend's infant child was teething.   At the time, insomnia stalked my sleep. This collection brought peace to us both.

Incidentally, there's an internet meme of a method to get babies to sleep, by wafting a paper napkin softly over the baby's face.

Thompson, do you think it would be all right if I sang while I wafted the napkin over my grandbaby's face? I'd much prefer to think it's my singing that calms the baby....

Priscilla Herdman (click) has three wonderful "family" albums, and each has lullabies. My favorite is Stardreamer.

My former singing partner, Margaret Nelson, did a CdD titled What Fond Delight full of lullabies. If you're interested I can provide more information on where to get it.

there is a c.d. compiled from Mudcatters--i think it was called Blue Bottle favorites or something like that...it followed a series of recordings we did called Blue Plate Specials....it used to be available along with other mudcat benefit recordings from Camsco... anyone now if there are any of these around anywhere?

Definitely sing while wafting, Joe Offer!

There's a CD of lullabies from Ireland in the Celtic Twilight series.

Another here called Lullabies for Love.

2 fabulous Folkie children's CD's .... They'd make great Christmas pressies !

"The popularity of 2010 release OFF WE GO! has spurred Jess & Richard Arrowsmith into making a second collection of nursery songs, rhymes and lullabies entitled OFF WE GO AGAIN!"

The latest CD includes guest appearances from the great and the good of the Sheffield Folk Scene including Nancy Kerr, James Fagan, Jon Boden & Fay Hield

Once upon a time there was a Mudcat release (produced locally, contributions by various members) of lullabies. I wonder if there are any of those around still? MMario was in charge of that project.
